We've had some good experiences eating from here, and some bad ones. Tonight was a bad one, to the point where we won't be going back. The meals are given too fast, the food has been fully precooked. The Sunny Beef was lacking flavour, more like greasy, fatty beef jerky, lacking the usual sesame seed coating. The sauce with the Chicken dish was lacking heat, and the size was too small. A shame this place has gone downhill, it used to be good, and very local. We will be taking the trouble to go across the river to better alternative from hereon in.Eoin Cuinn

Jimmy's Cafe & Grill

Gourmet91 Great Western Highway, Emu Plains

We stopped by here on our way back from the Blue Mountains to Sydney. The restaurant was empty except for ourselves, but it looked nice enough so although the menu looked a little pricey, we decided to stick around. We both ordered a mixed grill (petite rump steak, prawn kebab, petite rack of ribs, beef sausage) - one with mash, the other with chips. The food took quite a while to arrive, but when it did, both dishes were delicious, cooked to our requirements and were very tasty. The veg was cooked perfectly, but the mash was a little lumpy. However, I'd rather get the real thing than the "packet mash" so frequently served these days! The meal cost $86 AUD in total, for the 2 mixed grills, 1 coffee and 1 tea, which I do think was a little overpriced when the portions weren't particularly large. Although, as we did enjoy the meal I wasn't too irked. All in all, we probably would eat here again.Melissa Tafa

We've been to Jimmys several times over a few years. We enjoy the atmosphere the most. We find it too expensive to go more often. It seems to be slipping backward lately. The food portions are getting smaller with less and less care put into the meals. My wife received a cold lobster and it took some firm words to have it replaced. Its becoming sloppy and we tend to not bother going to Emu Plains anymore when we can get a cheaper better meal in Penrith. Pity.David Rolls

I decided to take my girlfriend to Jimmy's Steakhouse for a sunday meal as i had heard a good review of this place. Big mistake. I ordered a medium rare t-bone that was served to me well done, tasted like boot leather and was wafer thin, had a smattering of vegetable and about 6 chips. At $30 you'd think you'd get a half decent meal. My girlfriends meal on the otherhand wasn't bad by her report. I even went to the trouble to send the steak back only to have the waiter come back and tell me that the chef thought i was incorrect in my assumption that the steak was overdone. The customer wrong? since when was this standard practice? Don't waste your time going there, it is a rubbish, overpriced, crap restaurantChris Law
