Mile End Railway Station

The Deli

Gourmet54A George St, Thebarton

Top food in the backstreets; Adelaide needs more places like this. The vibe out the back is wonderful with sunbeams spilling through the vines. Vego breakfast was good value and filling. Just what the doctor ordered after running this morning's half marathon!John Herriot

Nice atmosphere. Service excellent casual. Pizza was superb. Hot chocolate was terrible, though (hot milk with almost no chocolate flavour at all). Didn't try coffee, but if they can't make a hot chocolate I seriously doubt their ability to make good coffee.Benjamin Selby

The food is great, but the place is so cramped as it's so popular... It's not the most comfortable place to eat, but A+ for the food and the pleasant personalities of the wait staff.Jess Tsimeris

I have had better curry from a jar of kantong. Didnt have egg plant for their signature dish. Someone elses food brought to tabel even though the place was almost empty. Wrong cocktail made even though they came back to the tabel to check what was ordered. Over charged on bill. By that time I wasnt going to point out their billing error as I couldn't leave fast enough. Staff were lovely, even if incompetent. Wont EVER risk going there again dispite its reputation. Red Ochre Grill

GourmetWar Memorial Drive, North Adelaide

Went there as a comparison to the Red Ochre in Alice Springs. I saw it in the 2013 food festival brochure, as such we got a good selection/price on the food. We were greeted upstairs and shown to our table promptly. The service was friendly, we had a young Scottish waiter who was a great conversationalist. The barramundi fillet and lamb saltbush were very tasty. The yam and spinach bake was exceptional. The decor was nice, upstairs over the river. It would be amazing having lunch on the balcony in spring. I'm going back to the place for sure, if the girlfriend doesn't drag me there first. Scott Nicolson

Food is excellent, but for some reason it doesn't feel quite as good for the price that they charge. Daniel Alan Miller

What a disappointment, the best part was the anticipation of a fabulous meal, didn't happen, whilst the waiting staff and table service was professional, the meal left a lot to be desired, particularly the main courses, the duck dish appeared to be several days old, certainly not freshly cooked, lacked any flavour except for the salt, which is what happens when continually reheated, the seafood casserole prawns soft, not eaten, most of our meal went back to the kitchen. Shame on you Red Ochre for spoiling our special night out.Pam Cavanagh
